Sahay flags off Ranchi-Howrah intercity express
Ranchi | Monday, Sep 7 2009 IST

Union Minister for Food Processing Industries Subodh Kant Sahay today flagged off the Ranchi-Howrah intercity train.

Addressing a gathering, Mr Sahay said more train services would begin services from here.

''We will talk to the Railway Ministry and ask them to give more trains for the state capital,'' Mr Sahay said, adding that train for Jainagar would also be regularised.

Governor K Sankaranarayanan said the new train to Howrah would lessen the rush to Kolkata.

The train would run six days a week.

''It will leave the state capital at 0540 hrs and reach Howrah at 1415 hrs,'' official sources said.

Similarly, it would leave the Howrah station at 1505 hrs and reach Ranchi at 2250 hrs.

Union Minister of State for Shipping Mukul Roy was also present on the occasion.
