Derailed Metro train put back on track - News

The train was put back on track by 1723 hours and the traffic on the Dwarka-Yamuna Bank route restored by 1852 hours, DMRC spokesperson Anuj Dyal said.

In a statement about the incident, Mr Dyal said, ''Today at 1519 hrs Train No 5015 starting from down platform of Dwarka station towards Yamuna Bank burst Point No 311-J which was set against the train and the front bogie (set of four wheels) of the leading coach D 313 burst through the point, derailed and travelled about 30 metres beyond the point.'' Since the train had started from Dwarka station there were only 34 passengers on board. There was no injury to passengers or to Metro staff, he added.

A 12 member rescue team was called from Najafgarh Depot to Dwarka station to put the derailed train back on track. The rescue team arrived at the Dwarka station at 1610 hrs and completed the entire rerail exercise by 1523 hrs. The whole process was completed in less than two hours.

Normal train services on entire Line 3 were restored at 1852 hrs.

A high level committee consisting of three officers of the rank of General Manager has been constituted to enquire into the incident.

The Train Operator (TO) has been suspended and the train has been sent to Najafgarh Depot for further checks.
