Two, including woman held with fake notes worth Rs 54,000

Police today arrested two people, including a woman, and seized fake currency of Rs 54,000 from them near Gola railway station of this district of Uttar Pradesh.

SP Rambharose told UNI that the accused, identified as Chandrashekhar and Bachni Devi, belonged to Parsan district of Nepal and counterfeits worth Rs 54,000 in denomination of Rs 500 and Rs 100 have been seized from their possession. A seven-year-old boy was also accompaning the couple.

The duo told the police that the consignment was given to them by one Suresh Jaiswal of Virganj area in Nepal, to deliver it to Dr Ajit Gupta of Mohammadi area in this district, the SP said. The accused also divulged that they use to smuggle the currency to Lakhimpur, Gorakhpur, Mirzapur, Saharanpur and Dehradun.

Meanwhile, police claimed that the duo were the members of the gang held with fake curency worth Rs 4,03,000 on October 4, in which two people namely Kaushal Gupta, brother of Dr Ajit Gupta and one Tarachand were arrested.
