US reaffirms commitment to 'N' deal, says no role in India-Pak
Washington | Wednesday, Nov 25 2009 IST

United States President Barack Obama today reaffirmed his commitment to civil nuclear agreement with India and made it clear that Washington would not play any role between India and Pakistan but help both countries find ways for peaceful resolution of problems..

''...It is not for the United States from outside (between India and Pakistan)...,,'' the US President said at a joint press conference alongwith Prime Minister Manmohan Singh after their talks at the White House.

The US President also expressed his full commitment to fully implement the civil nuclear agreement, which, he said, would benefit both countries.

The Prime Minister said that during their talks, both had agreed on early and full implementation of the civil nuclear cooperation agreement.

''Our strategic partnership should facilitate transfer of high technologies to India,'' Dr Singh said adding that the lifting of US export controls on high-technology exports to India would open vast opportunities for joint research and development.

It would also enable the US industry to benefit from, India's rapid economic and technological transformation, the Prime Minister added.

The talks between the two leaders lasted about an hour.
