People-to-people contact has helped Indo-US relations: PM

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who is on a four-day state visit to the US, has emphasised the great significance of the India-US relations at people-to-people level. ''These days, there is hardly a middle class family in India, who doesn't have a son, a son-in-law, a brother or a sister, or a sister-in-law in the United States,'' he said in an interview to CNN yesterday. ''The fact that there is a large Indian community in the United States and the way they have flourished and contributed to the growth of the American economy, I think, has changed the image of India,'' he said adding that's a great incentive for our two countries to strengthen our relationship.
