World India willing to give 'safe passage' to ULFA leaders
The Indian Government has a plan to counter the growing threat of Maoists and is willing to give ''safe passage'' to ULFA leaders Paresh Barua and Arvind Rajakhova who are holed up in Bangladesh. Sources, while refusing to describe Maoists as ''dacoits or terrorists,'' said the government had executed some plans and would implement some more. The government, however, hoped that the problem did not go out of hand. They said the Maoist problem was a ''serious'' one since they had support from some sections of ''civil society.'' On ULFA, the sources said the government was always willing to have negotiations with the outfit. ''We have also allowed safe passage (to Paresh Barua and Arvind Rajakhova). That position remains,'' the sources added. They said some ULFA cadres were ready to talk with the government.
