World Indo-Nepal water talks begin
The Nepal-India secretary level water resources talks began in Pokhara, Nepal today. The primary issues to be discussed in the parley are related to hydropower development, flood control, inter-country transmission lines and the Pancheswor multi-purpose project, Nepal News Network reported. The meeting would also assess the implementation of agreements reached in the previous secretary-level meetings. It would also dwell on the controversy over the construction of dams by India in the bordering areas. Secretary at the Ministry of Energy Shankar Koirala leads the Nepali team in the talks while Secretary, Ministry of Water Resources Umesh Narayan Panjiyar leads the Indian side. -- (UNI) -- 20DF3.xml
