World Criticism against UN is in the interests of India: Maoist leader
At a time the Nepali Congress and UML leader have criticised the UN for its statement that Nepal needs a national government, a senior leader of the Maoists has said that they are guided by the "Indian interests." UN Secretary General Ban-Ki-Moon said recently that national government is the solution to the present crisis. Nepali Congress General secretary Bimalendra Nidhi said that UNMIN is working in the interest of Maoists and it should not make any political statement. Prior to this Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal's political advisor Raghuji Pant, in a statement, had criticised the UN's statement. "The criticism of UN Secretary General is guided by the Indian interests as India wants to create an environment of confusion and influence in Nepal," Politbureau member of Maoist Lilamani Pokharel said. The political parties are criticising the UN in the interests of India, local media quoted him as saying while speaking in western Nepal today. Indian secret agencies are thinking that Nepal's Maoists can be abolished but that is completely impossible, Nagarik daily quoted Pokharel as saying. Meanwhile, Defence Minister Bidhya Bhandari has said that the Nepal army may not be a mere spectators if the Maoists continue their violent activities. Maoists have been protesting to pressurise the government to fulfil its demand of " maintaining civilian supremacy" saying that the president's decision to stop their decision to implement the sacking of then Army Chief General Rookmangud Katawal was wrong. Katawal has already been retired.
