Home Secy meets Nepal PM as Indo-Nepal talks begin

Home Secretary G K Pillai, who is in Kathmandu to attend a meeting of Nepalese and Indian security officials, met with Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal at his office today.

Mr Pillai is said to have discussed the security issues between the two countries. Indian ambassador to Nepal Rakesh Sood was also present during the meeting, which began today.

A 10-member Indian team led by Mr Pillai and a team led by Nepalese Home Secretary Govind Kusum are holding talks on bilateral cooperation on border security and the extradition treaty and other issues of mutual interests. Border crimes and security issues will be figured out during the meeting, officials said as these issues were discussed during the Prime Minister Nepal's visit to India in August.

The two-day meeting will conclude tomorrow.
