World Nepal Cabinet to hold meeting on climate change at Everest base camp
The Nepal government was preparing to hold a Cabinet meeting at the base camp of Mount Everest next month in order to draw attention of the world towards the impact of climate change, local media reports said here today. ''The Cabinet members will be flown to Everest base camp by a helicopter. The agenda of the meeting will be issue of climate change. '' Nepalnews quoted Nepal Forest Minister Deepak Bohora as saying. The objective of the meeting at Everest Base Camp would be to draw worlds attention towards the impact of climate change on the Himalayas, Mr Bohora said. ''We will discuss various ways to mitigate the impact of climate change using our resources,'' he added. According to the sources, the meeting at the base camp of the world's highest mountain peak, The Everest, will be organised before the Conference on Climate Change in at Copenhagen, to be organised on the occasion of International Mountain Day on December 11.
