46 injured need evacuation as lake burst imminent in China's quake hit zone Beijing | May 17, 2008 3:34:30 PM IST
Forty-six people were seriously injured and are in dire need of help in Beichuan county of the Sichuan province, which was the epicentre of the 7.8 magnitude quake that has so far killed 22,069 people in China. The Fate of 46 people remains undecided because water level of a lake is also rising rapidly and the bank of the lake may burst any time, soldiers have warned. Aftershocks frequently occurred in Chaping area of Beichuan County. Currently, local residents have given up homes and moved to the higher places for the sake of safety. The information was sent back through China's Beidou-1 navigation satellite by a troop under the Chengdu Military Area Command. (ANI)
