N.Y. mayor supports $1B railyard deal New York | May 11, 2008 12:01:13 AM IST
New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg says he plans to urge keeping alive a $1 billion agreement to improve railyards in the city's Manhattan borough. The mayor said Friday he would push the agreement as he talked with the project's developer, whose deal with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority had fallen apart, The New York Times reported. The plan isn't dead by any means. Hudson Yards is the most exciting opportunity New York has, Bloomberg said. The falling apart of negotiations Thursday between the authority and Tishman Speyer were seen as a major roadblock as officials recently said the agreement was nearly secured. The authority and the developer plan to talk again Monday, officials said. I'm not going in with an expectation, said Gary Dellaverson, the authority's chief financial officer, They've asked to meet, therefore I'm meeting with them. (UPI)
