Police said they were searching for a group of girls after a blast caused by a suspected homemade bomb killed a man and injured a teenager in London.

The girls are suspected of pouring an explosive liquid into the mailbox of former schoolmate Charlotte Anderson, 17, The Times of London reported Saturday.

Emad Qureshi, 26 -- a neighbor of Anderson's -- died in the blast Wednesday and Anderson was severely wounded, the report said.

Anderson told authorities as many as three girls made threatening comments to her outside her home and then poured a foul smelling liquid into her mailbox.

The methods for making these liquid explosives are all over the Internet. They could have gone away and looked them and made them quite easily, a police official said.

Three homes near the blast were damaged and 40 residents were evacuated as officials probed the area.
