Mummified baby found in backyard Woodland, Minn. | August 05, 2007 12:01:13 AM IST
Investigators say the mummified body of an infant found in a Minnesota backyard probably was buried decades ago by grieving parents. The baby was in a small vault dug up by a construction crew working on an addition to a house in Woodland Township. Colleen Entinger, the homeowner, told the Minneapolis Star Tribune she was shocked by what she found inside Wednesday. Let me just say it was interesting, Entinger said. My kids had trouble sleeping that night. The Wright County coroner will perform an autopsy. But officials were not treating Entinger's backyard as a crime scene. Investigators told her it was quite likely the baby died of natural causes in the era when Wright County was still pioneer territory. Entinger hopes they can trace the family so the body can be reburied with relatives. (UPI)
