Bollinger blast helps imperious Australia maul hapless Windies in Adelaide ODI
Adelaide | February 09, 2010 5:39:26 PM IST

Australia on Tuesday crushed West Indies by eight wickets in the second ODI in Adelaide to take a 2-0 lead in the five game series.

Australian fast bowler and Man of the Match Doug Bollinger's four wicket haul for 28 runs and the first-ball dismissal of West Indies captain Chris Gayle effectively determined the outcome of the contest, as neither the team nor the match ever recovered from it.

West Indies slid as low as 4-16 and was ultimately bowled out for 170, a paltry score which Ricky Ponting's men overhauled the target in the 27th over.

Bollinger had plenty of support the Adelaide pitch that offered plenty of bounce to the fast bowlers and turn for off-spinner Nathan Hauritz (1-45), The Age reports.

Narsingh Deonarine (23), Denesh Ramdin (30), Kieron Pollard (33) and Dwayne Smith (43) were the only batsman to offer some resistance to the mighty Australian attack.

In their leisurely chase, Australian opening batsman Shane Watson extended his outstanding summer by cracking 53 and Ponting was also smooth in compiling an unbeaten 57. (ANI)
