New Delhi | July 01, 2008 3:05:06 PM IST

Indian athletes grabbed 12 medals, including six golds, in the third leg of the Asian Grand Prix at Hanoi in Vietnam.

According to information received here, Indian middle distance runners made it 1-2 in the men's 1500 metres and the 3000 mts events in the meet Monday. Naresh Yadav (3:53.98 seconds) and Sandeep Karan Singh (3:53.99 secs) won the gold and silver, respectively, in the 1500m while Kashinath Aswale (8:16.22 secs) and Ajay Kumar Patel (8:16.56 secs) finished 1-2 in the 3000 mts.

Ace women jumper Anju Bobby George won the gold in the long jump event with a jump of 6.55 mts and her compatriot Harwant Kaur won the silver in the women's discus throw.

Indian men and women 4x400 mts relay team once again emerged champions. But the men team's Olympic hopes were dashed due to heavy rain, which resulted in considerable water on the track resulting in slow timing of 3:07.09 secs.
