India's Vivek Singh finished ninth in the men's 10 metre air pistol at the shooting World Cup here Saturday. Singh shot s series of 98, 93, 99, 97, 96, 98 for a total of 581 to miss the finals, comprising top eight shooters, just by a point. Singh's compatriot Samaresh Jung finished 15th with a score of 578 (95, 97, 97, 94, 99, 96) while Amanpreet Singh Jhaam finished 22nd with a score of 577 (96, 98, 96, 98, 94, 95) in a field of 52 contestants. In the minimum qualification score (MQS) section, India's Deepak Sharma shot a score of 571 (96, 94, 93, 95, 95, 98) while Ronak Pandit shot a score of 560 (91, 95, 97, 93, 92, 92). Vladimir Gontcharov of Russia won the gold medal in this event with 686.4 (587 in qualification series and 99.4 in finals), Ekimov Leonid of Russia the silver with 686.1 (584+102.1) and Lapeyre Walter of France the bronze with 685.3 (585+100.3). In the women's 10m air rifle event, India's Tejaswini Sawant finished 14th with 395 (97, 99, 99, 100), Suma Shirur 20th with 394 (97, 99, 99, 99) and Avneet Kaur Sidhu 50th with 390 (98, 96, 97, 99) in a field of 74 shooters. In the MQS section, Anjali Bhagwat shot 395 (97, 100, 98, 100) while Meena Kumari managed 389 (98, 94, 97, 100). Du Li of China won the gold with 502.3 (399+103.3), Zhao Yinghui of China the silver (499.7 = 397+102.7, shoot off 10.1) and Dovgun Olga of Kazakhstan the bronze (499.7 = 397+102.7, shoot off 9.9).
