West Indies coach Bennett King quits: report Kingston (Jamaica) | April 23, 2007 4:15:01 PM IST
Australian Bennett King has quit his job as coach of the West Indies team in the wake of a disastrous performance in the World Cup, media reports said here Monday. "He (King) gave up his job as coach. He has offered to stay on for a month to help with the setting up of the academy," Jamaica Gleaner quoted Jackie Hendriks director of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) as saying. With the West Indies set for a summer tour of England, King has recommended that his assistant David Moore take over. "I have heard that he recommended his assistant David Moore to take the team to England," Hendriks said. Fast bowler Ian Bradshaw has also tendered his resignation. The newspaper also reported rumours of WICB president Ken Gordon tendering his resignation. "My understanding is that he (King) is the only person to resign," Hendriks said, in response to prompts about Gordon. (IANS)
