UP Timber wins under 25 cricket title

UP Timber is the new champion of the R D Bhardwaj Memorial under 25 cricket tournament after beating Aarohi Builder's here today.

In the final at the K D Singh Babu Stadium, Timber Beat Aarohi Builder's by 32 runs.

At the end of the tournament, Deepak Yadav of the winning team was declared the best batsman while Zia Khursheed (Aarohi) and Agha Shahid (Timber) were declared the best Bowler and Player of the tournament respectively.

Batting first, UP Timber scored 232 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the stipulated 40 overs. Anshul Kapoor (91) and Deepak Yadav (94) both missed their respective centuries after giving a huge 177 runs partnership for the third wicket.

In reply Aarohi Builder's were bowled out for 200, 32 runs short, facing 36.1 overs.

Ranji star Prashant Malviya hit an entertaining 50 runs in his brief innings of 29 balls with the help of 8 boundaries and a six over the long on boundary.

Leg spinner Jai Dev Bist claimed 3/33 in his 8 over spell.
