We played ordinary cricket and paid the price: Bashar

''We played very ordinary cricket today and I am very much frustrated by the output. You defeat India and South Africa and then end the Super Eights on the eighth position,'' said an angry Bashar who blamed the batting and fielding for their dismal performance.

After the demoralising drubbing at the hands of Australia, Ireland were considered a much weaker team than Bangladesh who had not only scored impressive victory over South Africa but also gave England a big scare.

''But we are inconsistent. One day we play fantastic cricket and another day we play very poor and ordinary cricket. Today is such a day. But I must admit that Ireland have been playing better and consistent cricket than us in the tournament,'' he said.

''243 was not a big one and very much chaseable but our batting lineup played too badly. Too many early wickets cost us the match.

We played as if we have no game plan. And if there is any game plan that is to how fast we can lose our wickets.'' Bangladesh play the West Indies in their last match and a loss in that match means bottom of the table despite having the same points with Ireland, because Ireland defeated them.

''We deserve better than this and we know we are capable of this.

The way we fielded, dropped the catches and missed the run outs today, we cannot win matches after all that,'' the Bangla skipper, who was the last man to go after scoring 30 as he literally ran out of partners, lamented.
