UK cops to watch Woolmer's room's CCTV footage to zero in on the murderer London | April 12, 2007 12:09:01 PM IST
State-of-the-art digital enhancing equipment at Scotland Yard is likely to help identify the murderer of Pakistan cricket coach Bob Woolmer, who was found murdered inside his hotel room on March 18 after Pakistan lost a World Cup match against Ireland. Jamaican authorities investigating into Woolmer's murder have reportedly sent crucial CCTV footage from his hotel to the UK for detailed analysis. Detectives hope that Scotland Yard sleuths would help identify the people who entered Woolmer's room on the 12th floor of the Pegasus Hotel before his murder. "The footage was sent to a laboratory in the UK by Scotland Yard detectives. Experts in the UK will take a deeper look at the footage to identify people on the 12th floor around the time of his death," The Sun quoted a Jamaican police source as saying. On the basis of postmortem report, the Jamaica Police have said that he died of "manual strangulation". Meanwhile, in another related development, cops are preparing to head to Pakistan to question the country's cricket squad about "ambiguities" in statements they made before leaving Jamaica. Jamaican Police Deputy Commissioner Mark Shields, being helped by four Scotland Yard detectives, said: "We may have to take further statements. In a murder investigation this complex every detail counts. It is almost impossible to complete this inquiry in Jamaica." (ANI)
