Botha doubtful for Ireland after hamstring injury

Ireland all-rounder Andre Botha is doubtful for the World Cup Super Eights match against New Zealand in three days after injuring his hamstring in training today. Botha, a crucial player to the Irish with his medium paced bowling and batting in the middle order, hurt his right hamstring playing touch rugby at Everest Cricket Club in Georgetown. The team hope that he will make a speedy recovery but if he has pulled the muscle it could be the end of his World Cup. ''He felt his hamstring tighten and he took no part in practice,'' team physio Iain Knox told Reuters. ''We will wait and see how he is in a day after the treatment. The next 48 hours are crucial.'' Botha claimed two wickets at a cost of just five runs in the shock three-wicket victory for Ireland against Pakistan which led to the 1992 winners' first-round elimination.
