Lloyd wants Windies to play with pride

Speaking on an anti AIDS campaign last night, 'Super Cat' Llyod made it clear that he was not happy at the performance of the Windies in the Super Eights.

''Let's hope that God will be kind to us and we will go to the semi final,'' he said.

Llyod was more philosophical about the team's failure although most of his former colleagues were much harsher.

''Brian Lara must go'' was the simple statement from Michael Holding and he meant it by repeating it every time he has to say anything about the West Indies team.

''This is the not the West Indies we know. They are blown away by Matthew Hayden in the first match but what about New Zeeland and then Sri Lanka match. They have surrendered so easily. I simply can not believe that,''Tony Crozier told UNI.

Even opponents feel that there was something amiss in the West Indies camp.

''I was expecting little more opposition than this,'' said Sri Lanka skipper Mahela Jayawardhene said.

The West Indies are taking a nine-day break and in fact the team has broken up for the Good Friday holiday and it has come under flak from many.

Bowling legend Colin Croft was one of them who did not want the team to split for the holiday.

''This is not a time to take holiday. They should spend the nine-day break more wisely and perhaps regrouping themselves. I am not so sure whether they have done a good thing. But certainly this is not the great West Indies team, which we represented. There is no fight back, nothing. I just can not believe that,'' he said.
