Change of selection committee cost us the World Cup: Contractor Mumbai | April 06, 2007 9:43:32 PM IST
Change of the selection committee six months prior to the World Cup was the main reason for India's disastrous World Cup campaign, according to former India skipper Nari Contractor. Speaking at a function to release the book 'Body Line' written by experienced martial arts instructor and fitness expert Farokh Dinshaw, yesterday, Mr Contractor agreed with Kiran More that the selection committee’s term should have been extended. ''The new selection committee resulted in the World Cup exit. The Kiran More-led selection team had completed their four year tenure but I feel they should have been retained till the World Cup,''he said. ''The new committee had new plans and programmes, which disturbed the team combination. That is where the whole problem started. We experienced a sudden slump in form. We started losing matches and struggled till the World Cup,''he added. UNI GS PM SAM RS1356
