Australia can regain top ODI spot from South Africa Kingston (Jamaica) | April 06, 2007 5:15:06 PM IST
Australia has a good chance of regaining its top spot in the one-day rankings if it beats England Sunday in the World Cup Super Eight match in Antigua. The lead, however, can be short lived if current leaders South Africa, who has 127 rating points, beat hosts West Indies in Grenada in their Super Eight match Tuesday. Both South Africa and Australia have 127 points each in the latest one-day rankings, but when calculated to the decimal position the Proteas were found to be ahead by just 0.1199 rating points. India is in sixth place with 106 points while Sri Lanka edges past Pakistan for the fourth place. Both Sri Lanka and Pakistan have 110 points each. But again, when calculated to the decimal place, it was found that Mahela Jayawardene and Co. were ahead of the Pakistan team. India and Pakistan performed poorly in the World Cup and suffered a first round exit. New Zealand, who is having a fine run in the World Cup, is in the fourth place with 115 points. Rankings: 1. South Africa 127 rating points2. Australia 1273. New Zealand 1154. Sri Lanka 1105. Pakistan 1106. India 1067. England 1048. West Indies 1019. Bangladesh 4310. Zimbabwe 2211. Kenya 0 (IANS)
