Uttar Pradesh made exit from Central zone twenty-20 cricket

Devastating bowling by Shantaby Pitre and a swasbuckling knock by Mohnish Mishra (36 off 27b) helped Madhya Pradesh beat Uttar Pradesh by three wickets in the Central Zone Twenty-20 cricket Tournament at the SMS Stadium here today.

Uttar Pradesh today suffered their third successive defeat in the tournament. Though Uttar Pradesh has to play one more match against Vidarbha but they will have only an academic interest. As they are out of tournament with today's defeat.

Asked to bat first Uttar Pradesh were restricted to 98 for six in 20 overs, after they lost five wickets for only 8. Pitre damaged them the most at the early stage when he dismissed skipper Mohammed Kaif(0), Praveen Kumar (0)and Piyush chawla (1).

Madhya Pradesh achieved the victory target of 99 for the loss of seven wickets in 18.2 overs.

Monish Mishra was the star performer for Madhya Pradesh as he hit unbeaten 36 off only 27 balls which included five fours and a beautiful six. Besides him, Devendra Bundela cotributed 20 off 26 bals.

Brief Score - Uttar Pradesh innings - 98 runs for 6 wickets in 20 overs.(Rahat Elahi 42, Ali Murtaza 39, Shantanu Pitre 3 for 4).

Madhya Pradesh innings - 102 runs for 7 wickets in 18.2 overs (Mohnish Mishra 36, D Bundela 20, Abbas Ali 16, Praveen Kumar 2 for 5).
