Smith looks upto tougher matches Georgetown Guyana | April 04, 2007 8:40:02 PM IST
Having comprehensively beaten Ireland by seven wickets, South Africa are now looking up to their next tie against Bangladesh and the ''tougher'' last three matches. ''Hopefully Bangladesh match will not be a tough one but after that, we have three back to back tough matches against the West Indies, New Zealand and finally England,'' said skipper Graeme Smith after the Ireland match. ''We are fortunately having some points on the board and after the Bangladesh game we should have six points. But, after that there would be tougher games and I am confident we should be doing well,'' he added. Smith was happy that his top order was clicking but worried over the lower order not getting enough match practice. ''We had one chance to test the lower middle order in the Sri Lanka match but blew that opportunity.'' Smith, however, gave enough indication that he would not like to experiment much as the team was doing well. He was upbeat that Shaun Pollock had returned to form. ''He had two bad games and two below par performances but I am happy that he has managed to come back in the nick of time. He bowled brilliantly today,'' Smith said. He was also full of praise for man-of-the-match Jacques Kallis who had two good partnerships to carry the side home. First, he shared a 65-run partnership with Smith and then produced unfinished 80 runs with Ashwell Prince. UNI MT PDS VP0522
