Pakistan police to help in Woolmer murder probe Lahore | April 01, 2007 2:15:11 PM IST
Pakistan will be sending two senior police officers to Jamaica to help investigate coach Bob Woolmer's murder, said Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Naseem Ashraf. "The Pakistani police team will cooperate with the Jamaican police," Ashraf was quoted as saying by The News Sunday. Ashraf added that the two officers would leave Monday and stressed that the Pakistani players were not involved in the crime. "I have no doubt that our players are innocent," he said. "We are thankful to the Jamaican prime minister who expedited clearance of the team." Woolmer was found dead in his Kingston hotel room March 18, a day after Pakistan's shocking World Cup exit at the hands of Ireland. Ashraf said he would represent "Pakistan and the PCB" at the former England player's funeral in South Africa Wednesday. (IANS)
