Ganguly returns home amidst tight security Kolkta | March 30, 2007 3:08:49 PM IST
Former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly returned to his hometown Kolkata on Friday amidst tight security arrangements after India failed to make it to the Super Eights at the World Cup. Security was stepped up at and around the airport before Ganguly's arrival, fearing protest by fans and supporters. Despite the team's dismal performance in the Caribbeans, Ganguly received a relatively better welcome than most of his team mates a day before. The 1983 winners crashed out in the first round of the event last week after losing two of their three Group D matches, to Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. Several former players and irate fans then called for the axing captain Rahul Dravid and coach Greg Chappell. (ANI)
