I shifted floors on hotel security's advice: Talat
Lahore | March 30, 2007 2:15:08 PM IST

Pakistan cricket team manager Talat Ali said he shifted floors at Kingston's Pegasus hotel on the instruction of the hotel's security staff following the death of coach Bob Woolmer.

"I was the last one who changed rooms on the instructions of the hotel's security staff," Talat was quoted as saying by Dawn Friday.

After a meeting of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), chief operating officer Saleem Altaf clarified that Talat was not the only one who shifted out of the floor.

"First it was West Indian greats Clive Lloyd and Brian Lara who shifted their rooms from the floor and I only followed them," Talat disclosed.

The team manager said he was staying pretty close to Woolmer's room and the hotel manager informed him about the coach's death.

"When I reached the spot, medical staff was giving Bob some medical treatment and, according to the doctor, the coach was breathing. But sadly, he was later pronounced dead in the hospital," he said.

The team manager added that he would be submitting his report on the West Indies tour in the next couple of days but refused to talk to the media about it.

"I am going to Islamabad to meet the chairman and after that I will be in a position to speak to the press," said Talat.
