Pak manager claims he shifted floors on hotel security's advice Lahore | March 30, 2007 1:18:32 PM IST
Talat Ali, manager of the Pakistan World Cup squad in the Caribbean has said he shifted floors at Kingston's Pegasus hotel on the instruction of hotel's security staff after coach Bob Woolmer's mysterious death during the ongoing World Cup tournament. Immediately after meeting Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chief Operating Officer, Saleem Altaf, Talat clarified that he was not the only one who shifted out of the floor, but was in fact, "the last one who changed the room on the instructions of hotel's security staff". "First, it was West Indian greats Clive Lloyd and Brian Lara who shifted their rooms from the floor and I only followed them," the Dawn quoted Talat as saying. Talat said he was staying pretty close to Woolmer's room and the hotel manager informed him about his death. "When I reached the spot, medical staff was giving Bob some medical treatment and according to the doctor, the coach was breathing. But sadly, he was later pronounced dead in the hospital," he said. "I am going to Islamabad to meet the chairman and after that, I will be in a position to speak to the press," said Talat, adding he would be submitting his report on the West Indies tour in the next couple of days.
