ICC confirms Marshall as Vincent's replacement Port of Spain (Trinidad) | March 29, 2007 1:15:18 AM IST
New Zealand batsman Hamish Marshall will replace injured team mate Lou Vincent for the ongoing World Cup, it was confirmed by the technical committee of the International Cricket Council (ICC). Vincent, who hit a century against Canada last Thursday, was ruled out of the World Cup after breaking his left wrist during a practice session in Antigua. The batsman was hit by a Shane Bond delivery while batting. He was immediately taken to a hospital where an X-ray revealed a clean fracture. Vincent is the second New Zealand player after fast bowler Darryl Tuffey to be ruled out of the World Cup midway. Tuffey also injured his right bicep last Thursday and has been replaced by Chris Martin. New Zealand will next play the West Indies in the second round Thursday. (IANS)
