ICC approves Marshall as Vincent's replacement in Kiwi squad Kingston | March 28, 2007 12:15:01 PM IST
The International Cricket Council (ICC) today approved Hamish Marshall as the replacement player for Lou Vincent in New Zealand's squad for the ongoing World Cup. The Technical Committee of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 confirmed this after conveying the same to the New Zealand team management in an email sent on Tuesday. Marshall replaces Vincent after the latter suffered a broken left lower ulna (wrist) during a training session recently. Vincent is the sixth replacement player to be called up for the tournament. Australia's Stuart Clark, who replaced Brett Lee (suffered ankle injury), the Pakistan trio of Azhar Mahmood, Mohammad Sami and Yasir Arafat, who came in for Abdul Razzaq (suffered knee injury), Shoaib Akhtar (suffered hamstring and knee injury) and Mohammed Asif (suffered elbow injury), and Chris Martin, who replaced Daryl Tuffey (suffered bicep injury) for the Black Caps are the other players to be called up by any of the 16 teams taking part following the announcements of the final squads of 15 players. The Technical Committee of the ICC consists of David Richardson (Chairman, ICC representative), Campbell Jamieson (IDI representative), former international captains Michael Atherton and Rameez Raja (both independent nominations), Chris Dehring (Managing Director and CEO of the ICC CWC 2007) and Michael Hall (ICC CWC 2007 Cricket Operations Director).
