Team India to be given tight security cover on arrival: BCCI Rajkot | March 27, 2007 10:11:13 PM IST
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said on Tuesday that tight security will be given to Team India, which is expected back home on Wednesday after a shocking World Cup exit. BCCI Secretary Niranjan Shah urged Indian fans to accept the loss in a sporting manner. "Police in all the cities have made arrangements to provide security to the players. However, I feel that the Indian fans should not react sharply to it. Though our team has not performed well in the World Cup, the people should take it in a sporting spirit; there is a winner or a loser in a game. I am sure the fans will not harass the players," he said. He further said that the team was in a state of shock and should be given time to recover. "The process will go forward. We have a lot of time. In our international calendar we are going to Bangladesh in May. Out team is just back after a defeat. It is in a state of shock and we should give them time to recover. The Board also needs time to decide on what to do," Shah said. (ANI)
