India aiming for long-term prospects after World Cup ouster Rajkot | March 27, 2007 12:09:01 PM IST
Shaken by India's humiliating exit from the World Cup, the country's cricket governing body has convened a meeting to decide the future of action, an official said on Monday. Niranjan Shah, the secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said the board would start working with the aim of winning the next World Cup. "Everyone is shocked and everyone is disappointed and the entire board is disappointed. But eventually, we have to take it as part of the game and in the game there is victory and loss. We have to run the game in the future. As Pawar Saheb (BCCI chief Sharad Pawar) said we have to look ahead and aim at 2011. We will bring new players forward." Shah said. Shah added that the BCCI would try to groom new players by sending them abroad for match practice. "We wanted two teams. We always wanted 22-25 players so that they can be rotated, so there won't be pressure on some players only. And we will send the Team A to various foreign countries to play," he said. (ANI)
