Indians drop down in latest Official World Golf Rankings
New Delhi | August 14, 2006 2:45:17 PM IST

The below-par show by the Indians in last week's US PGA and European Tour events saw all of them dropping down in the latest Official World Golf Rankings issued today, with Shiv Kapur being the biggest loser, slipping 14 places to 189th in the list.

Jeev Milkha Singh's failure to make the cut in the USPGA The International saw him go down three places to 147th with 1.10 average points.

However, the seasoned pro continued to be the top ranked Indian and fifth placed Asian in the list.

Arjun Atwal (.84), who also participated in the event but failed to go past the halfway mark along with Jeev, also slipped by a spot to be 195th this week.

Meanwhile, it was a huge downfall for Shiv Kapur, who is using the Asian Tour break to play in Europe. The Indian's disastrous performance in last week's KLM Open in Netherlands -- in which he carded consecutive four-over 75s to fall by the wayside after two rounds -- saw him drop down to the 189th spot with .86 average points.

Among the other Indians, Jyoti Randhawa (1.01) remained static at 161st after taking a break last week. Randhawa is the seventh in the Asian list.

Tiger Woods continued to be the World Number One and has now held the top spot for a total of 403 weeks. His lead over Phil Mickelson is 9.50 average points.

Jim Furyk (7.64) has overtaken Fijian Vijay Singh (7.61) for the third spot.
