SSB seized narcotics worth Rs 15 lakh, apprehends 3 smugglers

The SSB jawans of 41st battalion Ranidanga under the command of Vikash Singh, Assistant Commandant, today seized narcotic items worth Rs 15 lakhs, including 3.1 kg Ganja, 5 gms Brown sugar, 930 gms opium near Naxalbari rail gate during a special operational duty and apprehended 3 smugglers. In another event during a joint operation with Forest Beat-North Khayarbari, the SSB jawans of 17th battalion Falakata recovered teak sawn timber and furniture items of teak wood at Chulkhawa Ashutosh Pally under Falakata police station yesterday and apprehended one person Tapan Das of the village Chulakhowa Ashutosh Pally, the publicity officer of SSB, Siliguri Frontier A Bhattacharya here said. The seized items worth rupees three lakhs twelve thousands were handed over to Forest Beat, North Khayarbari.UNI BM AD2034
