Harun Ali, Sudha marathon champs

Harun Ali form UP Police and N Sudha emerged winners in men and women titles respectively in the inaugural edition of Airtel Hyderabad Marathon Championship held here today. Seasoned campaigner Harun Ali of Lucknow who earlier had won Thane Full Marathon (2007), Indira Marathon at Alahabad (2007) and Simla Marathon (2009) left his rivals far behind to capture Hyderabad Marathon title. Although Harun dominated the race from start to finish, he could not match his best timing 2min 24sec he got at Simla couple of seasons ago. Another winner from UP was Rajakumari who also dominated the half marathon race before winning it by more than 15 minutes. Rajakumari, who won full marathon race in Allahabad four years ago, shifted to half marathon winning Delhi, Lucknow and Hyderabad titles. The race began at Peoples Plaza on Necklace Road in the morning. It reached GMC Balayogi Athletics stadium at Gachibowli with more than 1200 runners taking part in. State Governor ESL Narasimhan gave away the prizes while city Police Commissioner A K Khan and Cyberabad Police comissioner Tirumala Rao flagged off the races earlier. Men results: Marathon: 1.Harun Ali (UP)2:42.58, 2.Anil Kumar 3:09.07, 3.Dyaneshwar Tidke 3:11.30, Veterans (above 45):1.Bhaskar Sarma 3:51.49, 2.Piyush Sarma 4:49.30, 3.Vilva Natarajan 5:02.57, Full marathon (over 55):1.Bhaskar Desai 4:16.46, 2.Ramani Ramaiah 5:36.04, 3.Praveen Thummalakunta 6:33.30. Half marathon: 1.Arun K.Singh 1:16.56, 2.Tukendra Bist 1:19.19, 3.Steven Kaplan (USA) 1:27.24. Half marathon veterans (above 45): 1.Ashoknath 1:30.30, 2.Srinath 1:33.45, 3.Richard Da Costa 1:48.48, Half marathon veterans (above 55): 1.Giles Grego 1:57.07, 2.Kirti 2:05.42, 3.Hariharan 2:29.50. Relay Marathon:1. Osmania University (Sai, Chandrakanth, Ramu and Arun) 2:21.59, 2.Togella, Ramavath, Adalla, Aratikota 2:46.51, 3.Voluganti,Teraganala,Konda,Daida 2:49.37.
