India NIMS to start stem cell therapy treatment
The Nizam Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS), Hyderabad, is to start 'stem cell therapy' treatment for the patients, suffering from dreaded genetic disorder 'Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy' (DMD). According to a press release here today, patients have been asked to enrol their names with the NIMS. Venkatesh Muscular Dystrophy Foundation Founder K Sujata said NIMS would offer stem cell therapy to the fatal genetic disorder DMD and those who want to get their kids treated could enrol the names with the NIMS. An outpatient ward, especially for the DMD patients, was opened in the NIMS in Hyderabad, she said, adding Dr A K Meena, the Chief Neurologist of NIMS, would see the patients every Monday.
