BJP condemns milk price hike

Terming the decision by the Mother Diary to increase the prices of milk ''unfortunate'', Delhi BJP today demanded that it should reconsider its decision taking into consideration its social responsibilities and public welfare.

Delhi BJP President Om Prakash Kohli, in a statement here, said that for the people of Delhi who were already suffering from price spiral, this price hike on an essential commodity like milk would make the lives of the people even more difficult.

Prof Kohli said the decision to increase the prices of milk with effect from tomorrow on the basis of increase of the price of raw milk was not only unjustified but also showed the hollowness of its management.

He said that during the 'Navratras' when the people were fasting, the demand of milk remained high and increasing the prices of milk at this time was very unfortunate.

The role of Mother Dairy was also that of a regulator in controlling the prices of milk in the market, he asserted.
