CFL lamps for occupants of railway quarters
Thiruvananthapuram | Friday, Mar 19 2010 IST

In an effort to conserve energy, the Southern Railways will be providing CFL lamps free of cost to all the occupants residing in Railway Quarters.

The Southern Railways had taken the initiative after the Kerala Government launched its CFL lamps campaign.

There were about 2,000 occupants at the railway quarters in Thiruvanathapuram division, a release said, adding about 6,000 CFL lamps would be distributed. This would result in 436 KW reduction in the total connected load and result in conservation of about 1.5 million units of electrical energy per year, the release added.
