TDP confident of landslide victory in Municipal polls

Telugu Desam Party state general secretary Garikipati Mohana Rao today expressed confidence that the party would get a landslide victory in the ensuing Municipal elections. Addressing a press conference here, he said the TDP has gained strength with the re-entry of all the party cadre and important leaders. ''The Congress has lost its base due to its failure on all fronts. The hollowness of Congress governments at the Centre and the state was thoroughly exposed with the growing inflation on one side and the spiralling prices on the other,'' he said. ''The deteriorating law and order situation was giving rise to suspicion whether the government was functioning. The recent incidents in East Godavari district such as Hooch tragedy claiming over 20 lives, ammonium gas leakage taking lives of two people speak volumes about the ineffectiveness of the government, he said.

As a part of the strategy to win the municipal elections, he said, three-member committees with senior leaders of other municipalities were being constituted for each municipality.

Strengthening the organisation from booth-level was being taken up and the party was confident of winning all the municipalities with ease, he claimed.
