European Council to take development works in Indian cities

The European Council would select four cities and as many municipalities in India to undertake developmental activities related to environment with a fund of 20 million Euros.

The European Council representative and an expert in the field of environment and global warming science Milan Jezic Bon Gesseneck said this here yesterday.

He visited the Tirupati Municipal Corporation (TMC) and held discussion with Commissioner B Mohan Reddy on various issues especially on global warming.

Speaking to the mediapersons, Mr Gesseneck said in the second week of May, the Council would invite 20 select municipalities in the country to participate in the final screening to held at New Delhi in which, four municipalities would be selected for development projects after presentations submitted by them on environment and related to emissions.

The civil authorities too have to maker their nominal contribution to protect the environment and the select NGOs in the country would be made partners in the development projects, he added.
