Govt to extend all help to film industry: CM

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K Rosaiah has assured that the state government would extend all help to the film industry.

Presenting the 'Nandi' Film Awards 2008 at a glittering function at Lalithe Kalathoranam here in connection with the ''Ugadi celebrations'', the Chief Minister yesterday said the Congress government has strived hard to bring the Telugu film industry to the state.

Stating that the state government would take all measures to control the piracy, Mr Rosaiah said the government would strictly implement the 'Cinematography Act'.

He asked state Information Minister J Geetha Reddy and officials of Film Development Corporation to take steps to give the awards after completing the year.

Ms Reddy underlined the need for producing message oriented films which would useful for the present society.

She urged the producers and directors to concentrate on more message oriented and children films.

She said the government was encouraging film industry in the state for the last several decades by providing concessions and house sites for technicians and other staff in the film industry.

Commissioner, Information and Public Relations (I&PR) and Managing Director of A P TV and Film Development Corporation, C Parthasarathi said the government was giving the Nandi Awards to the film personalities from 1964 with a view to encourage film industry.
