Mild intensity quake rocks parts of Punjab, HP

An earthquake of mild intensity measuring 4.6 on the Richter scale hit parts of Punjab and Himachal Pradesh this afternoon.

The quake occurred at 1223 hrs and was epicentred 31.6 degrees East Latitude and 76.1 degree North Longtitude. The tremor lasted for a couple of seconds.

According to the Met office here, the termors were felt in the districts of Hoshiarpur, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Nawanshahar and Ropar and in the adjoining districts of Una, Hamirpur, Bilaspur and Chamba districts of Himachal Pradesh and even in parts of Jammu and Kashmir.

No loss of life or damage to property has been reported.
