India JKLF distributes relief among Sopore encounter victims
The Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) today distributed relief among the victims of Sopore encounter in which four soldiers, including a Captain and two militants were killed and more than two dozen houses damaged last month. The State government has already distributed Rs 24 lakh among the victims. A JKLF spokesman said chairman Mohammad Yaseen Malik and other front leaders had collected as donation from people amounting to more than Rs 12 lakh during the past one week. He said the money was handed over to the victims at Sopore, where he was given a warm welcome on his arrival this afternoon. Minister of State for Revenue and Rehabilitation Nasir Aslam Wani had distributed cheques worth Rs 24 lakh, as relief among 24 families of Chankipora, Sopore, whose houses were gutted recently in a militancy-related incident. People of the affected area alleged that security forces allegedly destroyed houses after the death of four security personnel in the encounter.
