Abhishek Industries bags Texprocil Gold Trophy

Leading towel manufacturer Abhishek Industries Ltd (AIL) has won two prestigious awards from the Cotton Textile Export Promotion Council of India (TEXPROCIL) for 2008-09.

The flagship company of Rs 2,500 crore Trident Group, Abhishek Industries has bagged a gold trophy for highest exports in 'Madeup Category,' for towels and a bronze trophy for the 'Highest Global exports' for textiles for 2008-09. The awards were conferred at the high profile ceremony of the 55th Texprocil Export Award Function by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Dr. M. Karunanidhi at Chennai yesterday. Union Minister for Textiles Dayanidhi Maran presided over the function. Speaking about the achievement, AIL managing Director Rajinder Gupta said the total textile exports of the company in the year 2008-09 were Rs 686 crore. In the current year, with addition of new manufacturing facilities and market reach of 65 countries across the globe, AIL would be able to reach a figure of about Rs 800 crore for exports. The company is further initiating to enhance its presence in the international markets and has set an export target of over Rs 1,000 crore for 2010-11. In the recent past, AIL has been awarded with many coveted awards by retail biggies wigs like IKEA, Walmart and JC Penney among others. The company figures amongst the world's largest terry towel manufacturers, world's largest wheat straw-based paper manufacturers and amongst one of India's largest yarn spinners. It has interests in chemicals & power generation as well.
