Camel safari expedition from Bikaner to Jaisalmer

A camel safari expedition from Bikaner to Jaisalmer by 323 Air Defence Regiment was flagged off from Bikaner Army Cantonment on Monday by Major General Y.N. Sharma, AAD of South Western Command.

Captain Sanjeet Mahapatra along with two junior commissioned officers and ten other ranks commenced the 350 km arduous trek on six camels across the mighty Thar Desert.

The expedition will culminate at Jaisalmer Military Station on February 22.

The expedition has been under taken by the unit under the aegis of Army Adventure Wing and was conducted as a prelude to the silver jubilee celebrations of the unit.

The unit was raised on March 27, 1985 and has in a short span, created a niche for itself in the fraternity of Army Air Defence by its stellar performances in the field of operations, sports and adventure activities.

The aim of the Camel Safari Expedition is to inculcate the spirit of adventure sports amongst the troops and as also to give an impetus to the image of the Army amongst the locals of the area. (ANI)
