East Bengal to clash againt Sporting Clube
Margao | Tuesday, Feb 2 2010 IST

Federation Cup champions East Bengal will clash with bottom-placed Sporting Clube de Goa in the 13th round of ONGC I-League football championship, to be played at Nehru stadium Fatorda here tomorrow.

East Bengal, who have 18 points from 12 outings, are looking forward to score full points. It won't be difficult for them to find goals considering their previous performance in last four outings. Barring a single defeat against Chirag United, they have beaten defending champions Churchill Brothers 3-2 and drew goaless against Mumbai Football Club and Dempo Sports Club.

East Bengal are a balanced team, with Bhaichung Bhutia and Yusif Yakubu leading the attack.

On the other hand, Sporting Clube de Goa have only five points from five drawn matches and six defeats due to their inconsistent performance. They are desperately hoping for a win to avoid their relegation. Sporting coach Vishwas Gaokar said ''Although my team has not been getting positive result, I am confident that players will put up a good show against East Bengal tomorrow.'' Mathew Gonslaves, who was injured, is fit and will play tomorrow, while Joe Pereira, booked with double yellow, will be out, he added.

Sporting will have to depend on Nigerian Junior Obagbemiro, Nathanial Amos and Joseph Pereira to secure victory.
