India NABARD sanctions projects for Mizoram
The state unit of National Bank for Agriculture & Rural Development (NABARD), in its project sanctioning committee (PSC) meeting here recently, has sanctioned a number of projects under Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) to the Mizoram government. Official sources today said the NABARD had sanctioned a project that involved the establishment of dry rendering plant and lairage at Modern Slaughter House, Aizawl. Out of the total project cost of Rs 295.28 lakh, the NABARD has sanctioned loan assistance of Rs 250.71 lakh and the balance Rs.44.57 lakh would be contributed by the state, sources added. The project will be implemented by the state of AH & veterinary department and is expected to be completed by March 31, 2011. The NABARD also sanctioned five rural drinking water projects, namely, water supply to New Capital Complex (Phase-II), Chhuarlung water supply scheme, improvement of Champhai water supply scheme and construction of rain water harvesting tanks at Khawlailung and Saitual. Of the total project cost of Rs 1146.21 lakh, the NABARD has sanctioned loan assistance of Rs 1031.24 lakh and the balance Rs 114.97 lakh will be borne by the state government. The project will be implemented by the PHE department and is expected to be completed by March 31, 2011. Moreover, the NABARD also sanctioned thirteen rural roads and two rural bridges projects for four districts of Aizawl, Serchhip, Saiha and Lunglei. Of the total project cost of Rs 6878.09 lakh, NABARD has sanctioned loan assistance of Rs 6190.28 lakh and the balance Rs 687.81 lakh will be the tate government's contribution. The projects will help in the construction of total road length of 182.45 kms and two bridges of 0.85 km length in the state. This will help in connecting around 55 villages in different parts of Mizoram and thereby benefiting approximately 88,000 population.
